Section 17 (1) of the Act mandates the Information Commissioner to maintain a Register of all data controllers who have complied with sections 15 (1) and 16 of the Act and are duly registered to process personal data.

Below is the Register of Data Controllers. The Register is updated daily, and can be searched to see if a data controller is registered with the OIC.

Please note that every data controller who processes personal data must register with the Office of the Information Commissioner by providing the Information Commissioner with the registration particulars prescribed at section 16 (2) of the Act and paying an annual registration fee to the OIC [per section 17 (3) of the Act and at Regulation 4 (2) and (7) and the Schedule of the Data Protection (Data Controller Registration) Regulations, 2024 ].

Failure to comply with sections 15 (1) and 16 of the Act – that is, processing personal data without being registered with the Office of the Information Commissioner – constitutes an offence, pursuant to section 18 (1) of the Act.
